"We living in the most exciting and at same time the most perilous period of the history of our world. Calamities by air, sea and land, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, the decline in the stability of the natural environment are all portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. Great changes are soon to take place in our world and the final movements toward a new World Economic Order, with its consequences for our planet, will be rapid ones." (Dr. Elliot Douglin, The New World Economic Order, 1997). "

"One reason that many otherwise 'good' people often use words irresponsibly and cruelly is that they regard the injuries inflicted by words as intangible and, therefore, minimize the damage they can inflict. Thus, for generations, children taunted by playmates have been taught to respond, 'Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words [or names] can never hurt me'. In our hearts, we all know that this thing is untrue…An old Jewish teaching compares the tongue to an arrow. 'Why not another weapon, a sword, for example?' one Rabbi asks. 'Because,' he is told,' if a man unsheathes his sword to kill his friend, and his friend pleads with him and begs for mercy, the man may be mollified and return the sword to its scabbard. But an arrow, once it is shot, cannot be returned, no matter how much one wants to." (Joseph Telushkin, Words That Hurt, Words That Heal, xix, xxx).

'Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it'. Deuteronomy 1232. The authors of the Westminster Confession of Faith included this principle in their discussion of worship, writing, the acceptable way of worshipping the true God is instituted by Himself and so limited by His own revealed will, that He may not be worshipped according to the imaginations and devices of men, or the suggestions of Satan, under any visible representation, or any other way not prescribed in the Holy Scripture.

In this modern age, most Christians give little thought to the idea that there may be an 'acceptable' and an 'unacceptable' way to worship God. Worship, for most modern believers, is a matter of personal preference. This only highlights how far the church has fallen since the great attainments of the Reformation. The preferences of men are highly regarded, but no one stops to ask the all important questions: what is the preference of God? What does God find acceptable in his worship? What does He regard as unacceptable and how can we know?" (Douglas Comin, Worship: From Genesis to Revelation, p.1)

“In our day, once great denominations have been overwhelmed. So-called Christian colleges and seminaries are infiltrated by professors who doubt, deny, or water down the Bible as the Word of God. Thousands of well-intentioned people have graduated from these schools and then set out to preach without the heart and truth of the gospel message. And Christians in the pews have been spiritually starved, misled, and blinded by unbelief and error…Apostasy is an issue of life or death – eternal life or eternal death.” (George Sweeting in Your Future.
