“…[O]ne particular type of evil, religious persecution, is especially hateful to God and often brings calamity- even national ruin- on nations and empires that practice it. Not all punishment is reserved for the hereafter. Shedding the blood of those who sincerely serve the Lord (though in ways that kings or priests may regard as heretical) often entails the most fearful retribution… After the prosecutors have killed the martyrs, they often have to bury their own: thousands, sometimes millions of them… Nationally sponsored persecution follows whenever a state supports a particular faith in opposition to other forms of religion.”

What is it precisely that God expects from those of us who profess his name? Do we have a responsibility to God for what takes place within our communities and the nation in which we live? Will God hold nominal Christians accountable for the loose rein they have given to morals, and the lifestyle they have adopted to meet that level of morality? Is there coming a day when the price must be paid for the blessings all Christians have been entrusted with, but have failed to use to honor God and our fellow citizens? Is there coming a day when like Israel of old, God will require an accounting of the beliefs and values and actions lived out in the life of professed Christians? I think there is, and it is probably coming sooner than we think.”

“Unfair speech, however, does more than harm its victim; it also is self- destructive. Psychiatrist Antonio Wood notes that when we speak ill of someone, we alienate ourselves from that person. The more negative our comments, the more distant we feel from their object. Thus, one who speaks unfairly of many people, comes to distance and alienate himself from many individuals, and, as Doctor Wood notes, alienation is a major cause of depression, one of the most widespread and rapidly growing disorders in America.”

“But idolatry is not something that belongs only to the ancient past or to pagan cultures. God said,’ You shall have no other gods before me’ (Ex. 20:3 NIV), because he knew we would forever be tempted by other gods, strange gods, and new gods. He knew that ‘the human heart is most deceitful and desperately wicked (Jer.17:9 NLT) and prone to worship idols. He knew that-even in the twenty first century and even (or especially) in a world that seems to be shaped increasingly by American culture-we could be led astray ‘with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from evil powers of this world, and not from Christ’ (Col.2:8 NLT). He knew that American idols would be no less dangerous than Canaanite, Philistine, or Babylonian idols. And he knew that as often as we succumbed to these temptations, our lives would be harder, poorer and sadder.”

“Christianity is not just receiving blessings from God. Christianity is having God all the time. He promised to be with us always, and never to forsake us because we are so precious to Him. It is not enough to know about Him, you must know Him. “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17: 3. It is not just receiving the truth about Jesus, it is receiving Jesus, as the truth, in His very person. It is more than receiving the law on stone tablets as the standard of righteousness, it is receiving Jesus into my heart who is the very personification of the law.”

As we enter the third Millennium we carry into it the most phenomenal advances in science and technology the world has yet seen. Just imagine that at the start of this century, in the years 1900-1901 radio, television, telephone, air transport and the computer were either unknown or in their embryonic scientific form. Now, as we approach 2000 A.D. we have super technologies which this generation takes for granted which, were our great, great grandparents resurrected to see them, they would not believe their eyes.
Nuclear power, space exploration, supersonic aircraft, facsimile transmissions, computer and information technology, the Internet, satellite and global communication, open- heart surgery, transplant surgery -and the list could go on and on- all are examples of the tremendous advances in science and technology which have characterized the 20th century.
But at the same time, we are also carrying into the 21st century unprecedented levels of violent crime, lawlessness and the criminal potential to counterfeit and abuse almost all financial systems and many other things besides.
We are carrying into the third Millennium unrivalled levels of abuse and new disease patterns. The chronic degenerative diseases, such as heart attack, cancer, diabetes and hypertension continue to kill millions yearly. New viral illnesses such as HIV, Ebola and others, and the resurgence of old infectious diseases, such as TB, pose massive threats to global health and economy.”

"God does not want volunteers for His work: He wants conscripts. He will not have you preaching the Gospel just because you want to. The work of the Lord is suffering serious damage today at the hands of volunteers; it lacks those who can say as He did: 'He that sent me…' Brothers and Sisters, the work of God is God's own work, and not work you can take up at your pleasure. Neither churches, nor missionary societies, nor evangelistic bands can send men to work for God. The authority to commission men is not in the hands of men, but solely in the hands of the Spirit of God." (DeVern Fromke, No Other Foundation, p.70)

“Bureaucrats at work on the international level have an ardent desire to eliminate any semblance of national boundaries. They seek to combine nation-states into a global federation, but of course, there are serious obstacles to achieving this objective. One stumbling block is the marked religious distinction that forms a natural barrier between diverse groups of people. A new, generic brand of religion could prove extremely helpful in unifying the world under a single belief system, especially if such a religion appeared to seek international unity. Furthermore, since religion has traditionally separated people in accordance with their convictions, this new religious ideology would need to effectively meld the doctrines found in both eastern and western cultures. It just so happens that the religious ideas emanating from the New Age movement fulfill these requirements in a diabolically perfect manner.”

"The effect of Adam's sin upon his descendants is an inherent determination to rebel against God's commands and follow our own desires instead. In worship, this corrupt inclination comes in the form of presuming to approach God according to our own ideas, whether by adding them to God's requirements, or simply replacing them." “A think can hardly collapse until it exists, and who would undertake to prove that the ruling classes of Europe were dominated by Christianity before the crisis came? When was it ever heard that Europe was under the rule of men who were under the rule of Christ? How many rulers, warriors, statesman, diplomats, legislators of any country have ever been known to conduct their official business in accordance with the teachings of Jesus? … When it comes to starting a war in Europe the masses don't count: it is only in the fighting that they count… It only proves that they have not developed to that point in Christian manhood where men renounce the divine right of kings for the divine right of the children of God to govern themselves under the supreme rule of God… Who does not know that for two generations there has been a steady drift away from the simple faith in every part of Europe, and that many sections of the continent which once blossomed as the rose with the purest types of Christian faith and life, are today desolate, wreck-strewn wastes in the land of the spirit.” (Edward Pell, Our Troublesome Religious Questions, 1916, p.30-31)
